A glimpse into Roamler earnings and spending

Ever wondered how other Roamler manage and spend their Roamler money? Look no further! In three tasks (Roamler Earnings, Impulse Buys and Impulse Buy Placements) we asked Roamlers to share with us certain details about their Roamler earnings and their spending habits.

Most Roamlers cash out small amounts whenever they need a bit of extra money or they use it to pay for small, everyday things, like groceries. However, some Roamlers do save up and cash out large amounts every once in a while.

For example, Rebecca P buys books:

Jonathon W would take his girlfriend out for a nice dinner at a fancy restaurant:

And Vicky R bought an adorable dog!

Jon G is saving up to have spending money when going on holiday:

Janine M wants to buy a horse saddle

And Neha B wants to repair a broken phone:

Regarding the general spending habits of Roamlers, it was interesting for us to learn that when Roamlers commit to cheaper impulse buys, they tend to splurge on chocolates, sweets and beverages. Even more interesting is the fact that most Roamlers (62%) said that the products they would buy on impulse are on the regular shelves and on the aisle ends. This contradicts popular opinion that the products at the checkout are most often grabbed on impulse. Only 16% of Roamlers said that the products they would buy on impulse are placed at the checkout.

When making big impulse purchases, Roamlers tend to go for electronics (many buy television sets). Watches and clothing are also very popular categories. Below we list a few other fun, uncommon or quirky impulse buys that Roamlers have confessed to:

Nicky P bought this wall mounted CD jukebox that came from an old pub:

She writes: “It looks a bit of a state at the moment, because we are doing some servicing work on it and have bought a black sparkly vinyl wrap to cover the wood. The CD movement is visible and is super cool, plus you can print inserts that flip over so you can choose your track. We love music and the whole family gets to choose their favourite CD’s to put in it. We are thrilled with it!

Mike H bought a very rate 1827 street directory of Wolverhampton in an antiquarian bookshop in Wolverhampton:

Mike writes: “I collect old and rare local history books of my home to town area. I didn’t intend to buy this one but when I saw it in the shop I just had to buy it!

Heather H went to the shop to buy a bicycle rack and ended up buying a car!

Sharon R bought this amazing looking bicycle:

She writes: “Well I rode it home! But it’s there and I AM going to use it… honestly… but think I’m a fair weather cyclist.

Judging from what Roamler had to say, impulse buying might not be a bad thing. 96% of Roamlers  indicated that they are happy with their impulse buys and that these purchases are enriching their lives in some significant ways.

Maybe it is time to do that Roamler payout and spoil yourself a bit…
