Did you know…

A few months ago we asked you give us some ‘Did you know’ facts and you guys did! And since you might want to start 2013 with gaining some useless facts knowledge, we have listed some facts in this post. We had a look at the tasks you send in and did you know that..
… most facts were found on the Internet, but also book and television shows (specifically QI) provided Roamlers with facts.
… Wikipedia was most populair to use as a source, followed by @uberfacts.

Some facts were about health and the human body. Try to make your next visit to the general practitioner a bit more interesting by asking:
– Did you know… 8% of people have an extra rib?
– Did you know… your tongue is the only muscle in your body that isn’t attached at both ends?
– Did you know… it’s impossible to lick your elbow?
– Did you know… you swallow at least 8 spiders a year?
– Did you know… that if you pinch the skin on the end of your elbow that it doesn’t hurt?
– Did you know… your most active muscle is in your eye?
– Did you know… fingernails grow better in cold weather?
– Did you know… that twin foetuses start playing in the womb at 14 weeks?
– Did you know… stubble grows faster when you’re dehydrated?
– Did you know… you have no sense of smell when you’re sleeping?

Did you know this about communication and technology?
– There are more mobile phones in Ireland than there is people.
– One google search uses the computing power of the entire Apollo space mission.
– If ‘Apple’ were a country, it would rank as the world’s 68th biggest.
– 44% of kids in America watch tv before going to sleep.
– If you perform a google search for Chuck Norris with I’m feeling lucky, you will be met with the Google response “Google won’t search for Chuck Norris because it knows you don’t find chuck Norris, he finds you.”
– Satellite navigation works using the space time continuum so that we actually get to the right place at the right time. Otherwise the times would be unsynchronised.
