Yummy in my tummy

Food is an important part of our daily lives and that’s why we wanted to know what your nutritious diet is. The food pyramid is a classical method in finding out if you’re eating pattern is correct.
The idea of the food pyramid is that the food group positioned at the bottom of the pyramid can be eaten in large amounts, without becoming unhealthy. Moving upwards in the pyramid the food groups and their quantity decrease. Of course, the food pyramid is only one way you can look at eating patterns, since dietitians constantly have other ideas or opinions on food.

Yet taking the food pyramid as a nutritional diet, we got some very interesting results out of the “Food pyramid task” and thought it would be interesting to share them with you.

First of all, we wanted to tell you how healthy you all are, congrats! The dosage of each food group was almost always in a good balance. We did notice that the “Bread, pasta, rice, couscous, cereal, potatoes group” sometimes was eaten more than necessary, but hey! Who doesn’t enjoy some tasty crisps every now and then :)

We have made a collage of each food group, showing which product was chosen the most per group.

To start off with: we asked you to take a photo of something you eat from the vegetable group. We received some divers answers but a lot of you said: carrots.

Then we wanted to know what item of the fruit group you eat regularly. We found out that Roamler’s favourite fruit item resulted in a tie between apples and bananas (we particularly liked the banana with the Roamler logo on it!). Good way to get those vitamins!

While moving through the pyramid the next food group we asked you about was the bread, pasta, rice, couscous, cereal, potatoes group. The results are in… and… we have a winner! I give to you: bread.
But then the question still remains: what do you like to eat with your bread? Let us know below in the comment area.

Additionally we’ve got the milk, yoghurt, cheese and diary group. In this category we also found a pattern, since many Roamlers chose milk. Milk got chosen at a beating record of 85%. The same percentage goes for the next group, which also received interesting results.

This last food group is the meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs and nuts group. Just like the dairy group, this one also had a high percentage of the same entries. Watch out though, you wouldn’t want to eat one that’s rotten… Yup, Roamlers love their eggs!

What’s your favourite way to prepare eggs? Scrambled, boiled, poached? Share your recipe with us here.

Well, those were all the food groups found in the food pyramid. But we’re not sure that we can still call it the food pyramid since you’ve come up with very creative new names for it.

Here’s a list of the top 5 most creative new names for the food pyramid:

1. Healthy Plate Mate
2. Mealtime Mountain
3. The all-seeing triangle of noms
4. The Wellness Wedge
5. The Tasty Triangle of Holistic Health and Happiness

The most common new name that repeatedly came up was: The food triangle.
Do you still want to join in on the fun? The task is still available in the app for the next 5 days, so hurry up!

The only question now is… what am I going to eat for dinner tonight?
